Online Prayer, THE AIM OF PERFECTION, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018

The Aim of Perfection Is the Perfection of Aim

Hebrews 12:2; 6:1 NKJV

Let us FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS.  THE AUTHOR AND PERFECTOR OF OUR FAITH…

Let us GO ON TO PERFECTION…and God permitting we will do so.

Matthew 5:48 Amplified Bible

You, therefore, MUST BE PERFECT [growing into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character,

having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity], AS YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS PERFECT.

Introduction:

The Aim of PERFECTION is more about the finished product than it is the present stage.  It is less a snapshot in time and more a living, moving, dynamic footage developing in the same direction over time.  There was only One who was born of a virgin perfect as a Son and made perfect as a Savior through learned obedience.  We are instructed to fix our eyes on JESUS, the Author and Perfector of our faith (Heb. 12:2 NIV).  When a marksman misses his intended target he does not go to adjust the target.  Rather, he looks within himself and checks his aim to correct its accuracy. Psalm 37:37 says Mark the perfect man…for the end of that man is peace.  Both the Hebrew and Greek words for “perfect” have similar connotations in marksmanship: completion, finished, full, whole, sound, integrity, or maturity. Other words are rendered: to be found not yet flawless or faultless, but authentic in a process giving it uniqueness, rarity, one-of-kid quality when accomplished, established, and made perfect;  still others denote: something made perfect by piecing together and crafting something bigger by skilled mastery, excellence in craftsmanship, and brilliance of creativity in a work of art or beauty (i.e. tapestry, mosaic, paintings).

Paul penned the statement, Not as though I had already attained, EITHER WERE ALREADY PERFECT: BUT I FOLLOW AFTER, IF THAT I MAY APPREHEND THAT FOR WHICH ALSO I AM APPREHENDED OF CHRIST JESUS.  I PRESS TOWARD THE MARK FOR THE PRIZE of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Thus, The Aim of Perfection Is The Perfection of the Aim.

Practice makes perfect…unless one is practicing the wrong thing.  The Greek word for “sin” is harmitia which is to “miss the mark”All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23).  The imperfect person comes to Jesus “Just As I Am” but in the process of perfection becomes “Just As I Will To Become”.  Being made perfect is not born of legalism and religious dogma but is the end of faith in the work of grace.  For by grace have you been saved through faith, this is not of yourselves.  It is a gift of God (Eph. 2:8-9).  Thus, A.I.M. is an acronym Advancing In Maturity in Christ’s perfecting.  We are informed: continue to WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION with fear and trembling.  FOR IT IS GOD who WORKS IN YOU both to will and do according to His good purpose (Phil. 2:12-13).  That,  Being confident of this very thing that He which has BEGUN A GOOD WORK IN YOU WILL PERFORM IT UNTIL THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST (Phil. 1:6).  This good work is the coordination of a tandem performance of the Word of God and Spirit of God.

  • Law of the Word is perfect converting the soul. (Ps. 19: 9)……………In whom also after that you believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. (Eph. 1:3)
  • The Lord watches over His Word to perform it. (Jer. 1:12)…………….Being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was also able to perform. (Rom 4:21)
  • All Scripture is God-breathed…that the man of God may be perfect…………………Wherefore He is able to save to the uttermost that come to Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for                                                                                                                                                      them. (Heb. 7:25)

This is for our hope and inheritance not our hopelessness and discouragement.  The Seed/Word has a 30, 60, 100 fold potential.  The supernatural ableness of the Spirit means we can receive the end of our faith by the work of grace and the proving of patience—that patience might have her perfect work, that you may be perfect, and whole, lacking nothing (Jam. 1:4, 9)Do you see how faith was working together with his works, and by faith was made perfect (Jam. 2:22).

Jesus is perfect theology.  But, it is flawed thinking to believe that only heaven can correct what the work of the cross has already finished.  Jesus asked the two blind men, Do you believe I am able to do this (Mt. 9:28-29)?  This issue is not His ability but our willingness.  He is able if we are willing!  The Process looks like this:

  • I must DECREASE—HE MUST INCREASE
  • I desire MORE OF HIM—I desire LESS OF ME
  • I have ALL OF HIM—Because HE HAS ALL OF ME
  • I AM HIS—HE IS MINE
  • I am ONE WITH HIS BODY—HIS BODY IS ONE WITH ME

In this process we observe that perfection’s aim begins as a POSITION of grace through faith and is sustained to the end as a CONDITION of obedience through persistence until established and made perfect.  2 Thes. 2:13 best frames our prayer direction of perfection’s aim: For you, beloved by the Lord, were chosen by God from the beginning to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through the belief in the truth.  When Jesus declared, “It is Finished” it transcended all things making Him able to save to the uttermost.  The Word is the hammer and the Spirit the chisel carving out a replica of the Son’s perfection, predestined…to be conformed to the image of His Son (Rom. 8:29).  The aim of our perfection is determined by the perfection of our aim.  It is by faith but it is not automatic.  The measure is between where we have taken hold of that which has taken hold of us.  We can say, “I may not be what I should be, and I may not be what I’m gonna be, but thank God, I’m not what I used to be!”  He is able as long as we are willing.  He will accomplish that which concerns me; He will not forsake the work of His hands (Ps. 138:8).   Being made perfect is the distance between “dying to sin” and “being dead to sin”—it is living more on the other side of “as it is in heaven” than it is “My will be done” on earth!

Beloved, let us not claim “nobody’s perfect” or settle for second best on our journey to being made perfect.  We should settle for nothing less than the best!  All of His promises are “Yes and Amen in Christ”.  Galatians 2:20 in The Passion Translation well defines our aim of perfection, as does 1 John 3:2 NKJV:

My old identity has been co-crucified with Messiah and no longer lives; for the nails of his cross crucified me with him. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, and dispenses his life into mine

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealedwe shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

So as we pray today, Let us go on to perfection…(Heb. 6:1).  We AIM at PERFECTION by PERFECTING our AIM in FIVE WAYS:

  • The PERFECTION of PEACE…to become whole and holy in integrity and virtue of who Christ is in us.
  • The PERFECTION of PRAISE…to have our praise fully inhabited and completely enthroned.
  • The PERFECTION of LOVE…to have His love in us and among us as all-conquering, never failing.
  • The PERFECTION of OBEDIENCE…to have our obedience found complete under Christ’s Lordship.
  • The PERFECTION of UNITY…that we are united, not divided, and building toward one perfect man in Christ.

The eyes of the LORD search throughout the earth, that He may show Himself strong on behalf of those whose HEART IS PERFECT TOWARD Him.  2 Chron. 16:9  We may not be perfect from where we are standing –but we can see it from here!  Let us go on to perfection!

  1. The PERFECTION of PEACE

Isaiah 26:3 NKJV

You will keep him in PERFECT PEACE, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 CJB

May the God of shalom make you completely holy — may your entire spirit, soul and body be kept blameless for the coming

of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. The one calling you is faithful, and he will do it.

Psalm 37:37 KJV

Mark the PERFECT MAN, and behold the upright: FOR THE END OF THAT MAN IS PEACE.

General Direction: That we understand the complete definition of God’s peace as being the wholeness of who God is; soundness of mind, integrity of heart, virtue of the soul and health of the body; that peace is evidence of God’s kingdom come and heaven in earth by the fruit of the Spirit of peace.

Scriptures:

  • 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. –Phil. 4:6-8 NKJV

  • 11 Now no [a]chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; –Heb. 12:11, 14-15 NKJV
  • 20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you [a]complete in every good work to do His will, working in [b]you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. He walked with Me in peace and equity, And turned many away from iniquity. –Mal. 2:5-6 NKJV
  • 26 The Lord[a]lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”—Num. 26:6 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • That since the “Shalom of God” means fullness, wholeness, or completeness, lacking nothing, then we ask May God give us His “shalom” to have all that He promises in order to be all that we can be for His glory.
  • That the peace of God would be the sentinel and umpire to guard against what comes and goes out of our hearts and minds, as well as, what to give our hearts and minds to.
  • That we would allow God’s kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy to come so that our lives display His kingdom work on earth as it is in heaven.
  • That we would understand to discern the counterfeit of false sources of peace and realize that there is no true peace outside of the Lordship of Christ Jesus.
  • That we would set our minds on God so that perfect peace or the shalom, shalom of God will be kept sound in mind and emotions, thinking and feeling, intuition and intellect.
  • That the end of the perfect man, who is grounded in maturity and godliness, and being made complete in Christ is virtue and integrity is the mark of peace.
  • That peace is a fruit of the Spirit that must be vine-ripened so that we can taste and see the Lord is good.
  • That we would seek peace and pursue it in a time and culture of anxiety, fear, and depression because our peace is not of this world but freely given Prince of Peace.
  • That we would allow peace to rule and reign in every area of our spirit, soul, body, and relationships.

  1. The PERFECTION of PRAISE

Matthew 21:16 NKJV

And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have PERFECTED PRAISE’?”

Isaiah 42:11-13 KJV

…let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands.

The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war:

he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.

Psalm 66:2 KJVer

Sing forth the honor of His name; make His praise glorious.

O bless our God, O people, and make the voice of His praise to be heard.

Which holds our soul in life, and suffers not our foot to be moved.

General DirectionThat we comprehend the power and purpose of “perfected praise” and how we were created for praise as praise perfects us in the maturing; praise lifts us up as we lift Him up and enthrones Him as He scatters our enemies and sets an ambush against our adversary; that the most powerful praise is praising God for what He’s done that we don’t even fully know yet—even when we are praising through pain, sorrow, and suffering.

Prayer Points:

  • That we would discover and develop the power of praise and that Psalm 8:2 says it is “ordained strength” for us.
  • That we would weaponized praise against the devouring adversary, as well as, depression, anger, fear, and other thoughts/emotions.
  • That we would understand that singing to the Lord unites the mind and lifts the soul as we lift him up.
  • That we will enlarge God’s inhabitation of our praise and daily enthrone Him in our thanksgiving and praise offerings.
  • That praise is the highest form of our verbal construct and the best use of our breath.
  • That we were created for praise and worship and if we don’t praise Him the rocks will cry out.
  • That when we praise the Lord we magnify Him making Him greater than all our problems, challenges, and struggles.
  • That “Perfected Praise” perfects us making us full, complete, whole, lacking nothing, needing only Him.

  1. The PERFECTION of LOVE

1 John 4:12, 17-19 NKJV

No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, AND HIS LOVE HAS BEEN PERFECTED IN US.

LOVE HAS BEEN PERFECTED AMONG US in this: that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment; because as He is,

so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; FOR PERFECT LOVE casts out fear, because fear involves torment.

But he who fears has not been MADE PERFECT IN LOVE.  We love Him because He first loved us.

Colossians 3:14 NKJV

But above all these things PUT ON LOVE, WHICH IS THE BOND OF PERFECTION.

General Direction: That we would have love perfected in us and among us as we freely give the love, we freely received; that we would learn to love by laboring in grace to love God first and love neighbor as ourselves and that we would above all, put on love, which is the bond of perfection; that our aim is to reach the goal of having perfected love through learned obedience.

Scriptures:

  • 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. 13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” –Gal. 5:6, 13-14 NKJV
  • 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” –Jn. 13:34-35 NKJV
  • 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.  12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. –Jn. 15:9, 12-13 NKJV
  • 23 I in them, and You in Me;that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.  26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” –Jn. 17:23, 26 NKJV

  • 31 But earnestly desire the [i]best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way. 13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [b]puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [c]thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.   13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. –1 Cor. 12:31-13:1-8, 13 NKJV
  • 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” –Mt. 22:37-40 NKJV
  • 7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” –1 Pet. 4:7-8 NKJV

  • 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. –1 Jn. 3:16 NKJV
  • 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper, that He may abide with you forever—  21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and [a]manifest Myself to him.”  23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. –Jn. 14:16, 21, 23 NKJV
  • 8 whom having not [a]seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth [a]through the Spirit in [b]sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, –1 Pet. 1:8, 22 NKJV

  • 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, –Eph. 2:4-6 NKJV
  • 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. –Eph. 3:17-19 NKJV
  • 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. –Eph. 5:2 NKJV
  • 12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, –1 Thes. 3:12 NKJV
  • Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of [a]God! Therefore the world does not know [b]us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. –1 Jn. 3:1-3 NKJV
  • 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. –1 Jn. 2:15-17 NKJV
  • 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. –Deut. 6:5-9 NKJV

I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither[a]cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. –Rev. 3:2, 15-16 NKJV
  • 6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. –Heb. 12:6-11 NIV

  1. The PERFECTION of OBEDIENCE

Hebrews 5:8-9 NASB

Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.

AND HAVING BEEN MADE PERFECT, He became the source of eternal salvation TO ALL THOSE WHO OBEY HIM.

2 Corinthians 7:1 NKJV

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,

PERFECTING HOLINESS IN THE FEAR OF GOD.

2 Corinthians 10:5-6 NIV

…we take captive every thought to MAKE IT OBEDIENT TO CHRIST.

And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, ONCE YOUR OBEDIENCE IS COMPLETE.

General Direction: That we would learn obedience the way Jesus did and be those found in obedience—for our obedience is the only proof of our love for God; that the highway of holiness is a one-way street and obedience is the sum total of our decisions over a lifetime of choosing.

  • 22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,As in obeying the voice of the Lord?Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,And to heed than the fat of rams.23 For rebellion is as the sin of [a]witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.” –1 Sam. 15:22-23 NKJV
  • 19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;20 but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.”For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. –Is. 1:19-20 NIV

  • 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. –Jam. 1:22-25 NKJV

And great was its fall.” –Mt. 7:21, 24-27 NKJV

  1. The PERFECTION of UNITY

John 17:22-23 NKJV

And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:

I in them, and You in Me; THAT THEY MAY BE MADE PERFECT IN ONE, and that the world may know that You have sent Me,

and have loved them as You have loved Me.

Ephesians 4:10b-13 KJV

…that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

Hebrews 11:40; 12:23-24 NKJV

God having provided some better thing for us, THAT THEY WITHOUT US SHOULD NOT BE MADE PERFECT.

FROM US…to the general assembly and church…who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, and to the SPIRITS OF JUST MEN MADE PERFECT, to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant…

General Direction:  That we would comprehend the scope of unifying our course of the race with the race of those who ran before us; that we would understand that the perfecting of each living stone contributes to the building of the house of God; that unity is not an option or opinion but born of the Spirit as each one agrees in the surrender to Him in the same direction.

 Scriptures:

  • Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. –Ps. 133 NKJV
  • 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. –Jam. 3:14-18 NIV
  • 17 Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who will have to render an account [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you [either]. –Heb. 13:17 Amp.
  • 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” –Jn. 13:34-35 NKJV

  • 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.  15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. –Eph. 4:4-6, 15-16 NIV
  • When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all [a]with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. –Acts 2:1-4 NKJV

  • 16 So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders [a]were behind all the house of Judah. 17 Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. –Neh. 4:16-17 NKJV
  • 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. –2 Chron. 7:14 NKJV
  • 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. –Eph. 2:14, 17-22 NKJV
  • 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. –1 Pet. 2:5, 9-10 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • That our unity be born of the Spirit and sustained by the bond of peace.
  • That each of us as living stones would allow the divine sculptor to “hewn, chisel, and polish” us so that we perfectly compliment the perfection of the union in Christ.
  • That our perfection has a direct correlation to the house of God and to those who’ve gone before us.
  • That we must run the race of our respective course to win the prize and to fulfill the grander perfection of their race in relation to ours.
  • That God receives greater glory when the greater good of His people is perfected in unity, not just individual accomplishments.
  • That the world will know we are His disciples and the Father sent the Son by the way we love one another and by how we are made perfect in one from every tribe, tongue, and nation.
  • That there is exponent power in our agreement and harmony in one place at each time we gather in His name.
  • That our strength is not in our diversity, but unity of the Spirit.
  • That unity is possible because we are united around Jesus, bowing to His Lordship, and obeying His command, and in mutual submission to each other in love and respect.
  • That Jesus would build His church that the gates of hell could not prevail against from hewing out the small stones (petros) from the larger stone (Petra) to have a house built on the oneness of the Father and Son and Holy Spirit’s construction.
