(Five Ways to Repair the Breach and Make Up the Hedge)

Psalm 3:3 NASB

But You, O Lord, are a shield about me.

Psalm 34:7 NKJV

The angel of the LORD encamps ROUND ABOUT them that fear Him, and HE DELIVERS THEM.

Psalm 32:7 KJV

THOU ART MY HIDING PLACE; thou shalt preserve me from trouble;

THOU SHALT COMPASS ME ABOUT WITH SONGS OF DELIVERANCE. Selah.

Zechariah 2:5 NKJV

For I, says the Lord, ‘will be a WALL OF FIRE ALL AROUND HER, and I will be the glory in her midst.’

Introduction:

After another mass school shooting we are again confronted with tragedy.  Yet, on the same day 4,000 babies were murdered at the altar of inconvenience as disposable baggage.  If 4,000 students were gunned down daily going back decades the mood would shift from national mourning to a public outrage.  But why?  Why does this keep recycling?  We have searched for the enemy and found him.  He is us.  The enemy is within us. We are saboteurs of our own devices.  The compromise is not as much as flesh and blood as it is a torpedo from hell sent through an opening of our access code.  We have removed prayer and God’s commandments from our schools.  We have trampled the God-ordained institution of marriage underfoot while celebrating what God calls “abomination” as an evolution of beliefs.  Our educational system has established a warped worldview wherein we deny God’s creation, God’s salvation, and God’s blessing as on this nation.

America is now a post christian, postmodern, neo-pagan nation on a bi-polar pendulum swinging between extremes of abused freedoms and the tyranny of the new intolerance.  Of this, Ravi Zacharis writes: We are living in a time when sensitivities are at the surface, often vented with cutting words. Philosophically, you can believe anything, so long as you do not claim it to be true.  Morally, you can practice anything, so long as you do not claim that it is a “better” way.  Religiously, you can hold to anything, so long as you do not bring Jesus Christ into it. Ours is the time of, calling evil good and good evil (Is. 5:20).  President Lincoln wrote in 1863 We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven.  We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity.  We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown.  But we have forgotten God.

The Bible references the invisible reality of “hedges of protection”.  These “hedges” were common in Biblical times as barriers or walls to keep out wild beasts and invading armies.  Hedges are likewise defined in other ways in Scripture such as: Shield, refuge, fortress, strong tower, stronghold, rock, hiding place, shelter, shadow, sanctuary, defense, rearguard, ever-present helpPsalm 34:7 says, The angel of the LORD encamps round about them that fear Him and delivers them.  Psalm 32:7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. And Psalm 3:3 But you, O LORD are a shield round about me. Of course, we would be remised if we didn’t include the fact that Satan himself said he couldn’t touch Job saying Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? (Job 1:10)

What we can conclude from these times is that the days are evil. The hedge of protection is breached! 9/11 was Exhibit A that when we forget God we grant our enemies and evil open access and open season to devour.  Of course, having a hedge of protection does not make us immune from Satan’s sifting nor invincible from trouble.  Jesus said, In this world you shall have tribulation… (Jn. 16:35).  God will permit times of testing as with Job and Peter to strengthen us and to promote us to greater things.  Nevertheless, the truth of the hedge remains literal and real.

Those in covenant with God, who fear Him and keep His commandments, can expect to experience His strong tower of preserved peace and prosperity as promised.  Proverbs 26:2 …the curse causeless shall not come.  1 John 5:18 he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not.  Even Jesus told Pilate, You could have not power at all against Me, except it were given from heaven (Jn. 18:36).  Therefore, God keeps safe those who keep themselves safe within the fear of the Lord and obedience to His commands!  Ecclesiastes 10:8 says, whoever breaks a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.  From this we conclude that the open breach is not a matter of divine denial but of human default.  Thus God said, I sought for a man among them who would make up the hedge and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land that I would not have to destroy it (Ezk. 22:30).  Moreover, Isaiah 58:14 says …you shall be called a repairer of the breach.

To a stubborn, rebellious nation God warns: If you will not hear, and if you will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto My name, says the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings (Mal. 2:2).   But for those who are in covenant with God, who stand in the gap and make up the hedge, God says howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing (Neh. 13:2).  As those who make up the hedge and repair the breach God says, In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil. When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Pro. 16:6-7), and, I will be an enemy to your enemies an adversary to your adversaries (Ex. 23:22).

Ignorance does not dismiss the truth of the hedge of protection nor does denial diminish its presence or absence.  What is true is that we are given stewardship in being caretakers of the hedge.  Our place is our outcry to the name of the LORD from where our help comes from (Ps. 124:8).  Our outrage is not against flesh and blood but against evil and iniquity.  Psalm 94:16-17; 22 Who will rise up for me against the evil doers?  Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?  Unless the LORD had been my help my soul soon would have settled in silence.  BUT THE LORD HAS BEEN MY DEFENSE and MY GOD THE ROCK OF MY REFUGE.

Today we answer God’s probing questions of “who will rise” and “who will stand” by praying into Five Ways to Repair the Breach and Make Up the Hedge:

  • A Hedge of COVENANT MAKING and KEEPING
  • A Hedge of REPENTANCE and HUMILITY
  • A Hedge of BLESSING and FAVOR
  • A Hedge of PRAYER and INTERCESSION
  • A Hedge of HIGH PRAISE and ENTHRONING WORSHIP

The result of our out cries and outrage must be no less than that which the Prophet Elisha prayed: Open our eyes that we may see.  Behold, the mountains are full of horses and chariots of fire ROUND ABOUT.  Those who are with us are more than those against us. (2 Kgs 6:13-18)

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. –Psalm 33:12

  1. A Hedge of COVENANT MAKING and KEEPING

Genesis 15:1 KJV; 17:1-2, 7, 9 KJV

After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying,

FEAR NOT, Abram: I AM THY SHIELD, and THY EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD.

I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

And I WILL MAKE MY COVENANT BETWEEN ME AND THEE, and WILL MULTIPLY THEE EXCEEDINGLY.

And I WILL ESTABLISH MY COVENANT BETWEEN ME AND THEE and THY SEED

after thee in their generations for AN EVERLASTING COVENANT…

…Thou shalt KEEP MY COVENANT THEREFORE, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.

Psalm 89:18, 34-35, 39-40, 26-28 NKJV

18 For the LORD IS OUR REFUGE; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

34 My covenant I WILL NOT BREAK,
Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
35 Once I have sworn by My holiness;
39 I will not lie to David:

You have renounced the covenant of Your servant;
You have profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.
40 YOU HAVE BROKEN DOWN ALL HIS HEDGES;
You have brought his strongholds to ruin.

He shall cry to Me, ‘You are my Father,
My God, and the rock of my salvation.’
27 Also I will make him My firstborn,
The highest of the kings of the earth.
28 MY MERCY I WILL KEEP FOR HIM FOREVER,
AND MY COVENANT SHALL STAND FIRM WITH HIM.

General Direction: That we comprehend that God never breaks covenant therefore never break His hedge of protection; That God is the Covenant-MAKER and KEEPER and He will keep those who keep His covenant faithful as He is; That as the mountains surround Jerusalem the LORD surrounds His people in covenant prosperity, peace, and protection.

Scriptures:

  • 10 “Who among you fears the Lord?Who obeys the voice of His Servant?Who walks in darkness And has no light?Let him trust in the name of the Lord And rely upon his God. –Is. 50:10 NKJV
  • “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: 6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. 7 “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. 8 “The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. 9 “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. 12 The Lord will open to you His good [a]treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you [b]heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them. 15 “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: –Deut. 28:1-2, 6-9, 12-15 NKJV
  • 29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. – Deut. 29:29 NKJV
  • 6 And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live. 7 “Also the Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8 And you will again obey the voice of the Lord and do all His commandments which I command you today. 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. 15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; –Deut. 30:6-8, 14-19 NKJV
  • 2 I will make you a great nation;I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.3 I will bless those who bless you,And I will curse him who curses you;And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” –Gen. 12:2-3 NKJV
  • 5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.6 As they pass through the Valley of [a]Baca, They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with [b]pools. 7 They go from strength to strength; [c]Each one appears before God in Zion. 10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather [a]be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. 12 O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You! –Ps. 84:5-7, 10-12 NKJV
  • 9 Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. 10 Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed. 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth, And righteousness shall look down from heaven. 12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good;
And our land will yield its increase. 13 Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway. –Ps. 85:9-13 NKJV
  • 5 “My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name.6 True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.7 “For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth. 8 But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi,” says the Lord 9 “So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law.” –Mal. 2:5-9 NIV
  • 5 “Although my house is not so with God,Yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant,Ordered in all things and secure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire; Will He not make it increase? –2 Sam. 23:5 NKJV
  • 14 He is the Lord our God;His judgments are in all the earth.15 Remember His covenant forever,The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,16 The covenant which He made with Abraham,And His oath to Isaac, –1 Chron. 16:14-16 NKJV
  • 12 Then they believed His words; They sang His praise.13 They soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel,14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,And tested God in the desert.15 And He gave them their request,But sent leanness into their soul.34 They did not destroy the peoples,Concerning whom the Lord had commanded them,35 But they mingled with the Gentiles And learned their works;36 They served their idols,Which became a snare to them.37 They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons,38 And shed innocent blood,The blood of their sons and daughters,Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.39 Thus they [a]were defiled by their own works, And played[b] the harlot by their own deeds. 43 Many times He delivered them; But they rebelled in their counsel, And were brought low for their iniquity. 44 Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, When He heard their cry; 45 And for their sake He remembered His covenant, And relented according to the multitude of His mercies. Ps. 106:12-15, 34-39, 43-45 NKJV
  • 5 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants,Because they have transgressed the laws,Changed the ordinance,Broken the everlasting covenant. –Is. 24:5 NKJV
  • 10 For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed,But My kindness shall not depart from you,Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”Says the Lord, who has mercy on you. –Is. 54:10 NKJV
  • 3 Incline your ear, and come to Me.Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—The sure mercies of David. –Is. 55:3 NKJV
  • 20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you [a]complete in every good work to do His will, working in [b]you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. –Heb. 13:20-21 NKJV
  • 5 Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.6 Your righteousness is like the [a]great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast. 7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. 8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. 9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. –Ps. 36:5-9 NKJV
  • 25 “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. –Ex. 23:25 NKJV
  • 7 Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart. –Jer. 24:7 NKJV
  • 19 Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within [a]them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, –Ezk. 11:19 NKJV
  • 28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [a]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” –Mt. 11:28-30 NKJV
  • 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” –Lk. 11:13 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • That God is our “Covenant-Maker” and He said that He would NOT BREAK COVENANT with us therefore it can only be breached by us.
  • That those in covenant with God have the assurance of a hedge of protection and God Himself as our Shield.
  • That the God of Covenant is our only defense against the leanness of soul, wickedness of this world, and the prince of the power of the air.
  • That God’s covenant is a strong, steadfast, and everlasting as He is.
  • That we examine ourselves to see if we are KEEPING COVENANT with God and abiding under the shadow of His wings and protection.
  • That if there is a breach in the hedge it is due to sin in the camp (i.e. Achan) or the wall has been compromised by unbelief, rebellion or wickedness.
  • That in KEEPING and COUNTINUING IN COVENANT insures an open heaven of protection, provision, and peace coming from the heavenly sanctuary.
  • That God has thoughts of an expected end with plans and hope for our future and to spare us from the judgment appointed to the wicked.
  • That we can claim Psalm 91 in its entirety knowing that God is our refuge and fortress and we will be spared the way of the transgressor being hard and shall reap in due season the goodness of the Lord.
  • That there is covenant with not only having angelic escorts ahead of us to prepare the way, but an angelic-rear-guard –surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives.

  1. A Hedge of REPENTANCE/HUMILITY

Ecclesiastes 10:8b KJV

And whoso breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

Micah 7:4, 7-8, 9b NKJV

The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is SHARPER THAN A THORN HEDGE:

the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

Therefore I WILL LOOK UNTO THE LORD; I WILL WAIT FOR THE GOD OF MY SALVATION: MY GOD WILL HEAR ME.

Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: WHEN I FALL, I SHALL ARISE; WHEN I SIT IN DARKNESS,

THE LORD SHALL BE A LIGHT UNTO ME. …he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

Exodus 23:20, 22 NKJV

Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and

an adversary to your adversaries.

General Direction: That we understand that when the hedge is down that repentance and humility are non-negotiable essential elements that must be re-established before the hedge can be restored; that in keeping God’s ways we retain the power and authority—to uproot iniquity, tear down strongholds, and evict enemy squatters that have set up oppression and trafficking among us.

Scriptures:

  • 28 Whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls. –Pro. 25:28 NKJV
  • 23 For My Angel will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will [a]cut them off. 24 You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred 25 “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. 26 No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days. 27 “I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. 28 And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you. 29 I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. 30 Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land. 31 And I will set your [b]bounds from the Red Sea to the sea, Philistia, and from the desert to the [c]River. For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you. 32 You shall make no [d]covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.” –Ex. 23:23-33 NKJV
  • 15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it. –Is. 30:15 NIV
  • By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life. –Pro. 22:4 NKJV
  • 23 A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor. –Pro. 29:23 NKJV
  • “On a lofty and high mountain You have set your bed;Even there you went up To offer sacrifice. 15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones. –Is. 57:7, 15 NKJV
  • Thus says the Lord:“Heaven isMy throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?
For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word. –Is. 66:1-2 NKJV
  • and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. –Mt. 18:3-4 NKJV
  • and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” –Mt. 3:2 NKJV
  • 13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. –Mt. 18:13 NKJV
  • He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love [a]mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? –Mic. 6:8 NKJV
  • 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” –Mk. 10:42-45 NIV
  • 20 Well Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. 22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, [a]goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. –Rom. 11:20-22 NKJV
  • For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.  16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have[a] regard for good things in the sight of all men. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. –Rom. 12:3, 16-17, 20-21 NKJV
  • 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and [a]overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it,and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. –Jam. 1:21-25 NKJV
  • 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. –Jam. 4:10 NKJV
  • for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. –Phil. 1:5-11 NKJV
  • Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. –Lk. 3:8 NKJV

  1. A Hedge of PRAYER and INTERCESSION

Ezekiel 22:30 KJV

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land,

that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

General Direction: To comprehend that prayer and intercession are God’s chosen means to provide a hedge of protection and that prosperity, provision, power, and peace depend on the fear of the LORD and obedience to His voice and commandments; as we pray and obey God becomes our shield, defense, refuge, fortress, sanctuary.

  • Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You. –Ps. 51:6, 10-13 NKJV

The [a]pains of death surrounded me, And the [b]pangs of Sheol [c]laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!” Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yes, our God is The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. Prayer Points:

  • That God instructed us to call upon Him and He would answer and show us great and might things.
  • That God seeks intercession on earth in order to share the distinction between divine judgment and mercy with His covenant co-heirs.
  • That the key to having God’s protection over a nation is when His people pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways.
  • That our praying and intercession be Spirit-born, Spirit-led, and Spirit-sustained in agreement with our Advocate who ever-lives to make intercession for us at the right hand of the throne in heaven.
  • That as intercessors we stand between the living and death and remember that Jesus taught that men ought always to pray and never give up.
  • That we learn that a hedge of protection cannot be built up by man’s government, empires, programs, methods, armies/navies/air force, or religion but only as our ways please the LORD and we fear the LORD causing angels to encamp around us.
  • To comprehend that prayer and intercession are God’s chosen means by which a hedge is established around us and He Himself is our shield of defense, our refuge and fortress—His name is a strong tower where we find safety and sanctuary.

  1. A Hedge of HIGH PRAISE and ENTHRONING WORSHIP

Isaiah 36:7 KJV

We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away,

and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, YE SHALL WORSHIP BEFORE THIS ALTAR?

Psalm 22:3 NIV

Yet you are ENTHRONED as the Holy One;

you are the one Israel praises.

Psalm 149:6 NIV

May the HIGH PRAISE OF GOD BE IN THEIR MOUTHS
AND A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD IN THEIR HANDS.

General Direction: To learn that praise has power and worship is a weapon to dethrone the devil as we enthrone the Holy One; to understand that we are anointed to minister to the LORD God as a royal priesthood and high praise and enthroning worship prepares the way for Him to come before us and go behind us as a rear guard of protection—that “God has got our six (back)”!

Prayer Points:

  • To realize the power of praise and worship as a weapon that sets an ambush against our enemies and stages a shield of protection around us for refuge and safety.
  • To acknowledge that as we enthrone the Lord we dethrone the devil and spoil his schemes.
  • To understand the purpose of high praise and enthroning worship, in that, it displaces everyone and everything else, and installs the God of Israel in the place of honor, adoration, and reverential-trust.
  • To learn that we are called as a royal priesthood to minister to the Lord in praise and worship and we are created and anointed to do so.
  • To comprehend that when we worship we set our hope and trust in the LORD to protect us as we advance and guard us from behind lest the enemy out-flank us in battle.
  • To learn the lessons from the past—that we dare not sing praise songs, while failing to seek God’s counsel or wait upon His word.
  • To understand that as we lift Him up He lifts us up.
  • To comprehend that when we activate the high praise of God with the Sword of the Spirit in our hand that rulers of the darkness are dethroned and principalities are placed in check and we have a hedge of protection.
  • That inside the walls of protection is where He reigns and rules with peace, prosperity, provision, power, and His manifest presence.
  • That when we magnify the LORD He becomes a shield round about us as angels encamp around those who fear the LORD.
  • To be like David who was anointed to play and sing and the evil spirits departed Saul—so we would lift God up in worship as see Him scatter our enemies.
  • To create a prophetic flow and manifest presence like when Elisha called the musicians to play so they could prophesy.
