R3 Alliance Online Prayer, ACCORDING TO MY GOSPEL, Wednesday, February 28, 2018

Romans 16:25-27 NKJV

Now to Him who is able to establish you ACCORDING TO MY GOSPEL and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith— to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

Introduction:

The previous week was remarkable, in that, it marked a milestone in history at the passing of a great hero of the faith and tragedy in time.  The home-going of Billy Graham and another mass murder of youth.  Billy Graham was a present day general of the faith.  The man, his message, and his mark left on this generation is worth our praying into for this nation.  Rev. Graham was asked in an interview “Is there anything else you want to accomplish after all the things you’ve done in your life?” Graham’s reply, “I don’t want to do anything that could bring reproach to the name of Christ.”  Later he was asked, “If you could go back and doing anything over in your life what would it be?” Graham’s answer: “I preached too much!  I would pray more and study more.  I felt like my preaching would have been more effective with more prayer and Bible study.” Towards the end of his life he was asked what he most looked forward to?  He said, “To hear my Lord Jesus say, ‘Well done thou good and faithful servant!’”

Those who knew Billy Graham said his most prominent quality was humility.  His message was simple. “God loves you through Jesus Christ dying on the cross and there will be a day of judgment.”  His most frequent phrase in preaching was: “The Bible says…”  Graham preached to 200 million people live, as well as, millions on radio and TV in 185 countries.  He was an adviser to Presidents from Eisenhower to Trump.  A record 59 times he was voted as one of the World’s Most Admired Men.  He said, “We are the Bible the world is reading, we are the creeds the world is heeding, we are the sermons the world is needing!”  His body will lie in state this week in the Capitol Rotunda Building.  An honor bestowed to only 4 other citizens.

In Paul’s conclusion to his letter to the Romans he makes an intriguing statement.  He points to various places of kingdom advancement and calls the Gospel “My Gospel”.  Paul was not reducing the Gospel to his ego or ambition.  The full Gospel had filled the man.  Jesus revealed Himself personally to Paul which left an impression that would become His life expression.  The Gospel owned Paul and he owned the Gospel.  He wrote also, I press on to take hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold me. (Phil. 3:13 NIV)  E.M Bounds wrote: It is the man behind the message that makes the difference.  The message grows because the man grows.  The message lives and moves with divine unction because the man does.  God takes the man and preaches His message through him. He is a living sermon!  And his living sermons continue to preach long after he has gone.

I noticed a bumper sticker years ago that said: BILLY GRAHAM, OCTOBER 26-30, GEORGIA DOME.  The Holy Spirit whispered to me, consider what you’ve just witnessed.  When you can take only a man’s name, a date, and location and virtually everyone knows what it means you have a man whose life is hidden with Christ in God.  A man that did not seek to save his life but has lost it for Christ’s sake.  The Gospel of Christ is his gospel!

With the recent school shooting and many other issues reaching critical mass in America, we need to be interceding for our nation like never before!  We will pray into the five areas Paul directed our attention to in Romans 16:25-27:

  • TO LOOK UP (To Heaven)
  • TO LOOK IN (To Our EXAMPLES)
  • TO LOOK BACK (To God’s Promises)
  • TO LOOK OUT (To The Harvest)
  • TO LOOK AROUND (To The Witnesses)

Lastly, Rev. Billy Graham said towards the end of his journey here: “Our country’s great need is of a spiritual awakening.  There have been many times I’ve wept as I’ve gone city to city and seen that people have wandered from God.”  Let’s pray for an awakening in America!

  1. LOOK UP (To Heaven)

Romans 16:26 NKJV

Now to Him who is able to establish you…

Hebrews 12:1 Amplified

LOOKING AWAY [from all that will distract] to Jesus, who is the Leader and Source of our faith

[giving the first incentive for our behalf] and is also Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].

He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross,

despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

General Direction: To LOOK UP to heaven where Christ is seated at the right hand of the throne interceding for us; to gain an eternal perspective and maintain the heavenly vision of our identity, calling, and purpose; to look for God’s approval, applause, and pleasure.

 Scriptures:

  • 8 But to the Son He says:“Your throne, O God,is forever and ever;A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” –Heb. 1:8-9 NKJV
  • 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. –Heb. 7:25 NKJV
  • 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. –Rom. 8:31-34 NKJV
  • 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. –Rom. 8:28-29 NKJV
  • 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; –Phil. 1:6 NKJV
  • 8 The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;Do not forsake the works of Your hands. –Ps. 138:8 NKJV
  • 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.–Acts 7:55-56, 60 NKJV
  • 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. –Mt. 6:19-21 NKJV
  • 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,Because He poured out His soul unto death,And He was numbered with the transgressors,And He bore the sin of many,And made intercession for the transgressors. –Is. 53:12 NKJV
  • 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” –Lk. 22L32 NKJV
  • 16 And I will pray the Father, and e will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— –Jn. 14:16 NKJV
  • 9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. –Jn. 17:9 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • For us to obtain an eternal perspective and heavenly vision of life, ministry, and purpose.
  • For our orientation to be to see ourselves and others through the Father’s eyes.
  • For our confidence to rely, not on our own performance track, but on Christ’s ability with promises as the Author and Finisher of our faith.
  • For us to never allow the praises or approval of men nor their rejections or criticisms against us to move us from our identity, calling, and giftings in Christ.
  • For our establishment to be founded upon God’s purposes not man’s plans.
  • For us to live, lead, and learn to be motivated by God’s love, acceptance, and pleasure, not the fear of man or the applause of people.
  • For us to follow Billy Graham’s example of understanding who gets the credit for success in ministry and who will say, “Well done” at the appointed time of death and life’s accountability.

  1. LOOK IN (To the Examples)

Romans 16:25

…according to My Gospel…

1 Corinthians 11:1 NIV

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ:

Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love,

just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering, and sacrifice to God.

John 13:15

I have sent you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

General Direction: To LOOK WITHIN to see that our character formation to Christ and witness to the world reflects the example Christ set for us; to understand that Paul was not reducing the Gospel to his ego or ambition; how that he had taken hold that which had taken hold of him; the full Gospel had filled him; his confidence was in Christ’s work in him to will and to do according to His will as Paul worked out His salvation with fear and trembling; that his life was an open book, his example, a pathway to follow His footsteps.

Scriptures:

  • 16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. –1 Tim. 4:16 NKJV
  • 2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. –2 Cor. 3:2-3 NKJV
  • 16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship. 18 What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ[a] without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel. –1 Cor. 9:16-19 NKJV
  • 23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat;[a]this is My body which is broken[b] for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.  31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. –1 Cor. 11:23-26, 31 NKJV
  • 10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.
  • 11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. 12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! –Gal. 5:10-12 NKJV
  • 19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. 20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. –Rom. 16:19-20 NKJV
  • 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. –Rom. 13:14 NKJV
  • 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— Eph. 6:10-18 NKJV
  • 20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. –Eph. 4:20-24 NKJV
  • 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. –Col. 3:9-10, 12-17 NKJV
  • 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. 24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. –Mt. 4:23-24 NKJV
  • 20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, 24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself,[a] so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. –Acts 20:20, 24 NKJV
  • 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. –2 Cor. 4:4-7 NKJV
  • 29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me. –Phil. 1:29-30 NKJV
  • 19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, –Phil. 1:19 NKJV
  • 7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, –Phil. 3:7-10 NKJV
  • 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. –Phil. 4:9 NKJV
  • 5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake. –1 Thes. 1:5 NKJV
  • 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise,[a] be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. –1 Tim. 1:12-15, 17 NKJV
  • 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,Because His compassions fail not.23 They are new every morning;Great is Your faithfulness.24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,“Therefore I hope in Him!” –Lam. 3:22-24 NKJV
  • 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles,They shall run and not be weary,They shall walk and not faint. –Is. 40:31 NKJV
  • Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. –Col. 3:1-3 NIV

Prayer Points:

  • To understand that knowing God’s faithfulness is established by looking back over His promises and provisions of the past.
  • To know that we can hope and be confident of the future because of the examples that are set before us.
  • To realize that saying “according to my gospel” doesn’t mean our ego or self-ambition but our example of following in Christ’s footsteps.
  • To comprehend that our life no longer belongs to us but is hidden with Christ in God.
  • To live knowing our lives are open books known and read of all men.
  • To preach the Gospel with our lives as the light of the world, that men may see our good fruits and works.
  • To learn that past redemption is the best predictor of future grace. (Pro. 3:5-6)
  • To learn that God creates new mercies for us each morning so we can review His faithfulness each evening.
  • To watch our life and teaching closely because it could mean salvation for us and those who follow us.
  • To follow Billy Graham’s example of having our lives hidden with Christ in God—our lives as living sermons.

  1. LOOK BACK (To the Promises)

Romans 16:25

…according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began…

Colossians 1:26-27 NKJV

The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

General Direction: To LOOK BACK over Biblical prophecies and promises, as well as, God’s faithfulness to us in the past; to understand that by looking back on God’s faithfulness we have perspective on future promises and are persuaded that God is able to perform what He said He would do; that God is not a man that He should lie but watches His word to fulfill its purpose; that the mystery revealed in Christ in us, for us, above us, behind us, before us and around as the hope of glory.

Scriptures:

  • 3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship[a] of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;[b] 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord… –Eph. 3:3, 9-10 NKJV
  • 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both[a] which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. –Eph. 1:7-10 NKJV
  • 10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,And do not return there,But water the earth,And make it bring forth and bud,That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void,But it shall accomplish what I please,And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. –Is. 55:10-11 NKJV
  • 12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” –Jer. 1:12 NKJV
  • 27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. 44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. –Lk. 24:27, 44-45 NKJV
  • 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. –2 Pet. 1:2021 NIV
  • 23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. –1 Thes. 5:23-24 NKJV
  • 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life,[a] and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. –1 Jn. 5:11-13 NKJV
  • 11 Now all[a] these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
  • 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. –1 Cor. 10:11-13 NKJV
  • 130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. –Ps. 119:130 NKJV
  • 5 Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. –Ps. 36:5 NKJV
  • 23 For the commandment is a lamp,And the law a light;Reproofs of instruction are the way of life, –Pro. 6:23 NKJV
  • 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. –Jn. 20:31 NKJV
  • 4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. –Rom. 15:4 NKJV
  • 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 21 It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. –Rom 4:17, 21 NKJV
  • 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. –2 Tim. 3:16-17 NKJV
  • 9 “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; –Deut. 7:9 NKJV
  • 56 “Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses. –1 Kgs. 8:56 NKJV
  • 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. –Heb. 10:23 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • To learn that in looking back we see God’s past redemption on those before us and that He is the Lord who does not change—Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever.
  • To rest in hope and believing know that God watches over His word to perform it and no words will return to Him void but establishes His purposes to which He spoke them.
  • To accept that the mystery of the Gospel has been revealed to us in Christ and we are entrusted with the stewardship of His message to all nations.
  • To learn that God’s promises past and future are governed by His holiness, faithfulness, and lovingkindness.
  • To understand that all of Scripture is the revealing of Jesus Christ from the Father by the Holy Spirit to God’s purposes in earth and eternity.
  • To refuse doubt and cast down unbelief and build our faith in God by hearing God’s word and doing God’s will.
  • To have assurance and expectation that our best days are coming because God has redeemed our past, been faithful in all things, and rewarded our obedience.
  • To follow Billy Graham’s example of believing in the Bible and faithfully preaching the message of the cross.

  1. LOOK OUT (To the Harvest)

Romans 16:26

…but now made manifest, by the prophetic made known to all nations…

Psalm 2:7-8 NKJV

“I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

John 4:35 NKJV

Behold, I say to you, LIFT UP YOUR EYES AND LOOK AT THE FIELDS, for they are already white for harvest!

Matthew 9:36-38 NKJV

But when He (Jesus) saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary[a] and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

General Direction: To LOOK OUT onto the fields where the Lord of the harvest is sending laborers and where God is working to seek and save the lost; to understand that Jesus instructed us to look away from every distraction that detours us from the harvest; to realize that to love God is to have His heart beat, His eyes of compassion, and His hands and feet to go to the highways and byways, the vallies of decision, and be Jesus with skin to the lost, lonely, broken, orphaned, and outcasts.

Scriptures:

  • 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, –Heb. 2:3 NKJV
  • 2 But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go outAnd grow fat like stall-fed calves. –Mal. 4:2 NKJV

  • 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. –2 Pet. 1:20-21 NIV

  • To comprehend the call of God to the nations as fishers of men to win the lost.
  • To labor in love to seek and save what was lost and be Christ’s ambassadors to the nation.
  • To take up our responsibilities to the Lord of the harvest to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
  • To have Christ’s eyes and heart to see the lost and feel compassion with actions towards the sinner.
  • To look away from other things, even good things, that distracts us from the harvest and detours to other things than the main thing He said.
  • To know that we are training to reign as kings and priests now and then.
  • To understand that if we take care of His fields He’ll take care of our homes.
  • To embrace the grace and power to equip, edify, and involve ourselves as witnesses near and far.
  • To be responsible to proclaim the Gospel to Jew first, then to the Gentiles.
  • To follow Billy Graham’s example of obeying the Great Commission and loving the lost.

  1. LOOK AROUND (To the Witnesses)

Romans 16:26

…according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith—

Hebrews 12:1 Amplified

THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth] let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us.

General Direction: To LOOK AROUND at the great cloud of witnesses and their example and to look around at the witnesses around in the body of Christ that re-present His fullness; to understand that those who came before us are examples and their lives instruct us to the obedience of faith; to function as a member of the body of Christ to be living stones to build His house making a habitation for His Spirit; for us to realize that God is coalescing the great cloud of witnesses’ works with ours for perfection of the faith.

                Scriptures:

  • 7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. –Heb. 5:7-8 NKJV
  • 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, –Phil. 2:5-14 NKJV
  • 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;[a]and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will[b] ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.  11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.  16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. –Jn. 15:2-8, 11, 16 NKJV
  • 10 My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. 11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. –Jm. 5:10-11 NKJV
  • 9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us. –2 Thes. 3:9 NKJV
  • 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, –Titus 2:7
  • 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  36 Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted,[a] were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented— 38 of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. 39 And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, 40 God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us. –Heb. 11:4, 6, 36-40 NKJV
  • 11 Now all[a] these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. –1 Cor. 10:11-13 NKJV
  • 4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. –Rom. 15:4 NKJV
  • 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;My cup runs over. –Ps. 23:5 NKJV
  • 19 Oh, how great is Your goodness,Which You have laid up for those who fear You,Which You have prepared for those who trust in YouIn the presence of the sons of men! –Ps. 31:19 NKJV
  • I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations. —Ps. 89:1 NKJV
  • 18 This will be written for the generation to come,That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord. –Ps. 102:18 NKJV
  • 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: –Mt. 25:34
  • 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions;[a]if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. –Jn. 14:2 NKJV
  • 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. –Eph. 2:19-222 NKJV
  • 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of[a] the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: –Eph. 4:13-21 NKJV
  • 12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. –1 Cor. 12:12, 27 NKJV
  • I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; –Eph. 4:1-4 NKJV
  • 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, –Eph. 3:10-11 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • That “obedience to the faith” includes bringing so great salvation to the ends of the earth—faith and works, as workmen who rightly divide the word of truth.
  • That we return to the only wise God, to Him be glory (i.e, Bill Graham would not take credit for what God did through him—“Puff Graham”.)
  • That we would understand the itis God who assigns our place and appoints our times and seasons and calls us to His kingdom for such a time.
  • That if we lack wisdom we ask the all-wise God—partnership/co-laborers.
  • That we join the doxology of Paul in saying “all glory through Jesus Christ to God the Father—cast our crowns at His feet.”
  • That we confess His Lordship—every knee bow, tongue confess:
  • That the establishment of the Gospel of faith is only fulfilled in obedience.
  • That God’s glory is our story, our song, the theme of our lives and the fullness of joy we find in Him.
  • That each of us are members of Christ’s body and each one has purpose and function in relation to the other body parts; that God prepares a table before our enemies.
  • That we should follow Billy Graham’s example of bringing churches together to bring people to Christ and follow up making disciples.
