Online Prayer, THE SCARLET THREAD OF REDEMPTION, Wednesday, September 27, 2017

Joshua 2:18 KJV

Behold, when you come into the land,

thou shalt BIND THIS LINE OF SCARLET THREAD in the window…

Introduction:

Jesus was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world.  God’s redemptive plan for man originated long before the Garden transgression.  A broader perspective reveals that the predeterminate council of the Godhead set in motion a Covenant that would unfold itself progressively until the fullness of time.  It would become the centerpiece of His sovereignty in revealing the Son of God as Messiah becoming flesh to dwell among us.

From Genesis to Revelation and beyond the Covenant of Blood became the “Scarlet Thread of Redemption” that is woven into the fabric of life and death, time and eternity, and heaven and hell.  The “Scarlet Cord” referred to above in Joshua 2:18 symbolizes salvation for it was the thin red line of defense that saved Rahab’s home from the armies of God invading to take the land promised to them.  She was saved and her household.

When Jesus raised the cup and declared “this is the new testament in my blood.” (1 Cor. 11:25)  He was linking that which was, and is, and is to come.   From the first prophetic promise to crush the serpent’s head, through all the Feasts and sacrifices, types and shadows of things to come, until the arrival of the forerunner of Messiah who announced: “Behold, the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world.” (Jn. 1:29)   The narrative becomes His Story that includes all of our future history.  We are given a forward glimpse of Christ’s reign: “I beheld, a Lamb as it had been slain…that sat upon the throne…and they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy…for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.  And thou hast made us unto our God kings and priests; and we shall reign on the earth.” (Rev. 5:6-10)

The Blood of Jesus is the living memorial of a three-cord strand that binds past, present, and future together with those bought at a price as prophets, priests, and kings.  The word “blood” is literally translated “life”.  Leviticus 7:11 says “For the life of the flesh is in the blood.”   The life of God was expressed through the incarnation of the Son of Man.  Because Jesus prepared His body as a living sacrifice and His life laid down, the veil of the temple was torn top to bottom as the veil of His flesh opened a new and living way into the Holiest of all for all in Covenant.

The “Scarlet Thread” created a tapestry of forgiveness, healing, deliverance, freedom, and future inheritance for us all which was woven into one portrait of Christ Jesus.

The Life Blood of Christ spilled out on the cross is the demonstration of the Father’s great love while we were yet sinners, as well as, the price paid for our ransom.  The blood is where “mercy and truth met together; justice and peace have kissed the each other.” (Ps. 85:10)  This sovereign event is where God acted with Himself to redeem all things once and for all.  It is the operating definition of “without the shedding of blood there is no removal of sin.” (Heb. 9:22)  He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west never to return again!

As we have entered the 40 Days of Teshuvah (or Returning) via the Feast of Trumpets and Rosh Hoshanah, we will observe Yom Kippur this Friday Eve which is the highest holy day of the Jewish calendar.  Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement when the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies to offer the annual blood atonement at the Mercy Seat.  Our endeavor today is to recognize that Jesus, the Lamb of God, has fulfilled the Day of Atonement with His own blood and has established that all the promises of God are “Yes” and “Amen” through Himself.

As we pray we will unpack what the Blood has accomplished. The Blood works effectually in five ways: GODWARD, MANWARD, SATANWARD, HEAVENWARD, and EARTHWARDThe suffix “ward” is defined as: as in toward; that which moves, tends, faces, or is directed toward more; that which occurs or is situated in the direction of.  Therefore, we are praying into or towards these five realities that exist—where the blood has directed Christ’s finished work on the cross.  The old chorus is a good “Selah” for us here: “O how He loves you and me –O how He loves you and me, He gave His lifeWhat more could He give?  O how He loves you, O how He loves me—O how He loves you and me.”

  1. GODWARD – Both Appeased righteous wrath and satisfied the legal requirement of punishment therefore places God on our side.

Isaiah 43:25-26 NKJV

“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake;
And I will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance;
Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.

General Direction:  To live knowing the Blood of Christ has appeased the wrath of God, satisfied the legal requirements of the written documents that recorded our guilt and condemnation.  That the blood sacrifice took the penalty of sin and freed God to act within Himself to forgive us and come to our side.

Scriptures:

  • 18 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in mercy. 19 He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea. –Micah 7:18-19 NKJV
  • 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.—Col. 1:12-14 NKJV
  • Whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, THAT HE MIGHT BE JUST AND THE JUSTIFIER of the one who has faith in Jesus. –Rom. 3:24-26 NKJV
  • Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,… 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. –Rom. 5:1, 8 NKJV
  • 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. –Jn. 3:16 NKJV
  • 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.–Jn. 15:13 NKJV
  • 51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split…-Mt. 27:51 NKJV
  • 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, –Heb. 10:19-20 NKJV
  • 4 Who has ascended into heaven, or descended?Who has gathered the wind in His fists?Who has bound the waters in a garment?Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, If you know? –Pro. 30:4 NKJV
  • 3 The Lordhas appeared of old to me, saying:“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. –Jer. 31:3 NKJV
  • 13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And When I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. –Ex. 12:13 NKJV
  • 3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. –Is. 53:3-6, 11-12 NKJV
  • 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. –1 Cor. 5:7 NIV
  • 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! –Jn. 1:29 NKJV
  • 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. –Eph. 2:18 NKJV
  • 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. –1 Cor. 12:13 NKJV
  • 14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. –Heb. 4:14-16 NKJV
  • 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. –Rom. 8:31-34 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • To boast in the truth that the Blood of Jesus has put God on our side.
  • To realize that during the Passover God said “When I see the blood, I will passover this house.” (Ex. 12:13)
  • To stand in awe and reverence of how God acted within Himself to purchase our salvation by sending His own Son to take our sin and die in our place.
  • To thank God that He has pardoned our iniquities and forgiven our sins and that He will always be faithful and just to forgive us all our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we confess our sin and repent our sinfulness.
  • To celebrate that Jesus demonstrated God’s love in that while were yet sinners Christ died for us.
  • To acknowledge that Jesus’ payment of blood appeased the righteous wrath of God against sin and satisfied to legal requirement of sin’s punishment.
  • To understand the symbolism of the Temple sacrifice that the priest would examine the lamb to see if it was worthy not the man— so, too, God examines the Lamb, not the man, to see that the Lamb is worthy!
  • To glorify Him for opening the gates of righteousness and opening the veil of the Temple for us.
  • To know and have confidence that the Lamb, our Great High Priest, has given us access to the Throne of Grace.
  • To realize that when Jesus laid down His life and shed His blood that it released God to freely give all things to those who are justified by Him.

  1. MANWARD – Justifies our sinfulness, acquits our guilt and condemnation, and grants a clear conscience.

Colossians 1:20

  • But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. –1 John 1:7, 9 NKJV

  • 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? –Heb. 9:12-14 NKJV
  • 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. –Heb. 10:22 NKJV

  • 3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God[and our Lord Jesus Christ. –Jude 3-4 NKJV
  • 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” –Gal. 2:20-21 NKJV

  1. SATANWARD – Shuts the mouth of my accuser, grants me the heritage to condemn him, and deny his access to me

Revelation 12:10-11 NKJV

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Isaiah 54:17 NKJV

17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

General Direction: To learn and live in the reality that the Blood has silenced the voice of our accuser and has granted us pardon, protection, provision, power, and peace through His Blood.

Scriptures:

  • 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. –1 Jn. 5:4-5, 18 NKJV
  • 9 For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. 10 Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, 11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. –2 Cor. 2:9-11 NKJV
  • 14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. 15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. –2 Cor. 2:14-15 NKJV
  • 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. –Col. 2:13-15 NKJV

  • 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. –1 Cor. 11:24-26 NKJV
  • 9 And they sang a new song, saying:“You are worthy to take the scroll,And to open its seals; For You were slain,And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” –Rev. 5:9-10 NKJV
  • 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. –1 Cor. 6:19-20 NKJV
  • My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. –1 Jn.:1-2 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • To boast in the truth that the Blood has silenced the voice of our accuser and cancelled His curses against us.
  • To operate from the place of honor and heritage of knowing we can shut the mouth of our accusers because our past is under the blood—absolved and pardoned.

  • To be confident in understanding we are justified and have peace with God though the blood of Jesus.
  • To plead the Blood (not as a means of witchcraft or manipulation by those unredeemed) but of those who exist in the Blood Covenant and abide in the shadow of the Almighty—and that His blood is our refuge and fortress and therefore we can direct the enemies attention to where the blood is our pardon and our protection abiding as a shield and defense. (Rev. 12:10-11; Job 1:10; 1 Jn. 5:18; Ps. 91)

  1. HEAVENWARD – Blood covenant holds in reserve every promise in heaven and guarantees eternal inheritance.

Ephesians 1:7, 10-14 NKJV

7 In Him we have REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times HE MIGHT GATHER TOGETHER IN ONE ALL THINGS IN CHRIST, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also WE HAVE OBTAINED AN INHERITANCE, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, YOU WERE SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE, 14 who is the GUARANTEE OF OUR INHERITANCE UNTIL THE REDEMPTION OF THE PURCHASED POSSESSION, to the praise of His glory.

General Direction:  For us to live and learn that we are to lay our treasures in heaven and to comprehend that there is an inheritance awaiting our arrival as kings and priests who reign with Christ in His kingdom.

Scriptures:

  • 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. –Heb. 9:15 NKJV
  • 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. –Rev. 20:15 NKJV
  • 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. –Phil. 2:12-13
  • 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. –Phil. 3:13-14 NKJV
  • 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. –Eph. 2:10 NKJV
  • 16 This is what the Lordsays:“Stand at the crossroads and look;ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it,and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’–Jer. 6:16 NIV
  • 1 Praise the Lord, my soul;all my inmost being, praise his holy name.2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion…11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. –Ps. 103:1-3, 11-12 NIV
  • 12 saying with a loud voice:“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!” 13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!” –Rev. 5:12-13 NKJV

Prayer Points:

  • Cease from living beneath our privileges as blood bought saints and minimizing the scope of salvation.
  • To discover and develop the truth that salvation belongs not only to us on earth, but also to live in anticipation of a heavenly inheritance secured for us.
  • To experience, not just the blessings of God in the HERE AND NOW, but to expect to experience even greater blessings in the THEN AND THERE—the place where Jesus said “where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.”
  • To spend ourselves daily, not neglecting so great a salvation given to us on earth, but to waste ourselves knowing we are already kings and priests would reign with Christ and there are eternal rewards and heavenly heritages awaiting our departure.
  • To celebrate Holy Spirit in us as the Holy Spirit of Promise which is the guarantee of our inheritance in heaven.
  • To exalt in knowing His blood has allowed for our names to be inscribed in the Book of Life, and has given us open access to the heavenly throne room, and have granted all the promises of God as Yes and Amen.

  1. EARTHWARD – I have everything I need on earth pertaining to life and godliness according to the divine nature in me and riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 1:30; 2 Cor. 2:20 NKJV

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us WISDOM from God—and RIGHTEOUSNESS and SANCTIFICATION and REDEMPTION—For all the promises of God in Him and YES, and in Him AMEN, to the glory of God through us.

General Direction: To learn to live in such a way that, not only are we storing treasures up in heaven, but that we have been trusted with heavenly riches on earth and become faithful stewards of the kingdom of heaven on earth.
